The Philharmonic Winds Goes POP!
Come join The Philharmonic Winds in this year-end celebration concert!
What better way to enjoy the holiday season than to let The Philharmonic Winds’ arrangements of some of the most popular and well-loved songs dazzle you!
Among the chart toppers featured in this concert are hits by Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Train, and a special medley of songs by Adele, including her hits Someone Like You and Rolling In the Deep.
This concert, we pay homage to hits from the silver screen with a medley of songs from the James Bond movies and theme song from the hit Taiwanese blockbuster movie You Are the Apple Of My Eye (那些年, 我们一起追的女孩). There will also be a selection of songs by Asian singers performed by The Philharmonic Winds together with four soloists on Chinese instruments.
One highlight of this concert would be the collaboration between the 60-strong wind orchestra and Singaporean singer-songwriter Charlie Lim. Based in Australia, Charlie’s name is well known amongst Melbourne’s musical elite, having opened shows for Kimbra and Elbow, and played on hundreds of stages in the region, including the renowned Mosaic Music Festival and Jarasum International Jazz Festival. Charlie’s music is a lush concoction of folk rock and neo-soul; his velvet croon will fill you with wide-eyed wonder, and an inexplicable desire to share your delight with the listener beside you.
That’s not all – lots more surprises are in store when The Philharmonic Winds Goes Pop!

Our Songs: 25th Anniversary Concert for SPH Choir 我们的歌在这里
During the 80s, some young Singaporeans who shared a common passion for music began a movement which led to the birth of Xinyao（新谣).
“Songs composed and sung by Singaporeans” became all the rage and Xinyao also became a musical and cultural phenomenon that is unique to Singapore and which reflects the feelings of a generation of Singaporeans.
To mark its 25th anniversary, SPH Choir will be staging Our Songs, a first-ever concert here where Xinyao will be performed in choral style. Joining the stage, will be the SOKA Chorus.
The concert has invited young Singaporean composers Liong Kit Yeng, Diana Soh, Chen Zhangyi, Derek Lim, Benedict Goh, Acid Pang and Erard Lee to rearrange classic Xinyao pieces（说时依旧、一步一步来、细水长流、摇摇民谣、故人的酒觞、水的话、邂逅、月色同行、笨鸟先飞,etc）for mixed choir to be sung and performed in a whole new way.
Taking the special form of a “broadcast theatre”, with well-known Radio 1003 DJ Wong Woon Hong linking the songs to be performed into a captivating story, the concert will allow the audience to become more involved and to have a better understanding of the Xinyao era. The concert also hopes to rejuvenate Xinyao and give it a new lease of life.

Sapporo Safaris simply depict a story about a handful (or two) of Singaporean girls and boys, and how they came together to start something special. Formed in early 2012 through mutual friends and siblings, the collective is inspired by the heroic likes of Arcade Fire, Of Monsters and Men, and Beirut. Yet they complement their gargantuan presentations with personal and empathetic songwriting. They purport to leave the hairs on your skin standing, whilst secretly tossing you into your own subliminal flashback hinting the thought, “Why yes I have felt this way before”.Sapporo Safaris are about family and friends. Joys and heartbreaks. Explorations and solitudes. Flights and falls. They are a humble manifestation of all those scattered emotions squeezed into a giant megaphone, and pressed against the lips of their unified voice, only to release a sound that is essentially genuine, sincere, and of course, fun.Sapporo Safaris are:Kev – Vocals

Esplanade Late Nite Series- Feel About You
Award-winning singer-songwriter Bevlyn Khoo dreams in Mandarin, writes in English, and swears (occasionally) in French. This versatility is reflected in her musical style, which is an eclectic pop-jazz mix of songs sung in those three languages.
Her EP album Lonely Afternoon, which features a diverse mix of original English and Mandarin songs and a cover of the French favourite La Vie En Rose, won the Best Indie Album award in the Singapore Entertainment Awards in 2009. Soon after, she was signed by Japanese record label S2S and released her debut full length English and Mandarin album You Are My Angel in 2010. More accolades followed, and Bevlyn was chosen to sing the sub-theme song 保温 for the popular drama series Little Nyonya. She then went on to become the first Singaporean artist to release an album of French songs, Bistro Affair, which was released across Southeast Asia to critical acclaim.
Bevlyn’s latest album, which will be released in June 2011, is yet another eclectic selection of radio-friendly original songs, including 我们要一直这么要好 (co-written by award-winning lyricist小寒), and easy-listening covers from the ’60s to the ’90s like My Eyes Adored You and You Belong To Me.
